Forged in flames, anointed in blood... A Demon's Blade.
When Mona was six years old, she witnessed the death of her mother… by a Demon. Mona was told what she saw was impossible, but she always knew the truth, nothing would convince her otherwise; not even pesky little things like doctors or psychologists.
It’s been twelve years, eight foster homes, five schools and two crappy part-time jobs since then, but now the monsters are back, and they’re everywhere.
Suddenly Mona finds herself in a world which she never knew existed and hunted by a creature like the one plaguing her nightmares.
Luckily, Mona isn’t alone. But will the help of her new friends be enough to save her?
- This is a full novel. Book One of The Desdemona Chronicles.
- This is a RH series.

This book is epic! Now, I generally don't write reviews unless a book is particularly noteworthy. It has to really grab my attention. This book did so. Plus, it is a debut novel, which is even rarer. Well, the good ones are rare.
First of all, I want to state that these are, in fact, my own opinions and feeling concerning this book. I was not asked or paid to write this review.
Here are some of the things that I rated the book on:
1.) Grammar::
It was well edited. I only saw a couple of words that looked like they had been auto corrected by the computer into words that were similar. However, I only saw this a couple of times and they in no way detracted from the story. SIDENOTE: These two lovely authors use British words because this story takes place in England/Scotland. Ergo, some words will be spelled differently. That does not mean that is is poor grammar. Also, certain words over across the pond have different meaning than they do here in America.EX: Shag=sex, boot=trunk, ye=you, etc.
2.) Plot and World Building:
Very well done. They took the time to flesh it out and they did a marvelous job at it. It was a world that I would not mind visiting. Well... I would forego the demon realm, obviously. It was creative and unique.
3.) Characters:
This can either make or break a book. The world and plot can be fantastic, but if the characters sucks then the book isn't worth reading. Fortunately, these two ladies created characters that were fleshed out and 3D. Yay!
Other Noteworthy Things:
1.) This is a reverse harem book. That means that the female lead ends up permanently, romantically involved with three or more male counterparts. It has to be three or more otherwise is it is a menage and that is something completely different. Also, RH focuses more on the story than it does on the sex. If you're not into story, plot, character building, etc, then you might need to check out the erotica section. A lot of RH books are slow building, which means it may take several books before there is even a kiss. (THIS BOOK IS AN EXCEPTION BECAUSE THERE IS KISSING. HOWEVER, THERE ISN'T ANY SEX.)
2.) Just buy the book. you won't regret it, I promise. Well...unless you are one of "those" people... and I can't really be held accountable for that, now, can I? ;)

A Demon Blade The Desdemona Chronicles Book 1 edition by CC EnglishRose Cece Rose Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Review on second read
I am surprised anew at how much I enjoyed this book. It is not without its issues, certainly. But it is humorous, very entertaining, unique enough to be intriguing, and includes numerous great characters and an engrossing mystery. All in all, very worth the read.
I would say that the largest problem I had with the book was a technical one. There are a number of grammatical and awkward word usage issues that I found distracting. And the MC occasionally made some very stupid decisions, though it was, fortunately, an inconsistent problem. The rest of the time she was snarky, strong, and took no crap from anyone.
The predominantly Scottish setting was fun and different. The four love interests are yummy (though they definitely need more development, they are still a little flat). The mystery of Mona's parentage is getting very interesting (and I have some theories about that!). And I was emotionally enough invested in the story and the characters that certain scenes were very moving. (I did not tear up once. Nope. Not once. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.)
By the conclusion of the book, I was hooked. I am off to read book 2 now, though I am sorry there is no word about a release date for book 3.
Check this one out!
UPDATE NOTES
72.0% "Come on...don't stand there and have this conversation now. Get your butts in gear!"
65.0% "LMFAO...okay the Rockness bit was hysterical!
“Get lost!” I shout to him, making a threatening gesture with my new awesome rock...He gets the picture and eventually drives on after having an eyeful of me and my new friend; the rock. Oh, rock. I will call you Rockness and you shall be my very best friend. You shall keep the pervs at bay.
61.0% "Yep. Stoopid Mona. You said it girl."
60.0% "Yeah...suuuuuper subtle there, Mona. *snort*"
58.0% "Sigh...stooopid move # 200. I feel like this is all I read these days. Why does no one act like a reasonable, normal person would? SO frustrating!"
50.0% "Whoa wait...Nick has a girlfriend?"
41.0% "I have to say, despite some of the problems I have with the writing, the author has done a good job of connecting me to the characters. Despite his limited appearance in the book, I am quite affected by what has happened to Christian."
32.0% "Desdemona Alezaz. Really?! LMAO"
32.0% "This Mr. Lee thing is a little weird. Are vets not doctors in Scotland?"
30.0% "This clock thing is a very weird bit of character development. So weird that it better have some import later in the story!"
28.0% "Honestly...this logic doesn't even make sense. No one could really be that stooopid. If you are going to force me to suffer through secret-keeping, then just use a more believable "not sure I trust them yet" excuse. Something that makes sense."
26.0% "Gah...and so the stooopid anti-logic logic begins..."
7.0% "Yeah...'cause it makes SO much sense after you've witnessed someone rip the heart out of someone else to go running off willy nilly in the dark and the rain instead of turning around and going back in the freaking bar you just left!"
5.0% "Sigh...I hate first person present tense. It always sounds so juvenile. And the author often makes tense errors with it (slipping into the more common past tense)."
The only issue I personally had with the book was that it ended wayyyyy to soon! Overall a really fun read! An interesting take on supernatural brings and I love the variety! Super interested to see how mine's story unfolds! But on to more technical basics great story line. It flows really well. Character development was pretty good and character interaction was nice. Keep in mind that all of this is only from my personal opinion though. But one thing I felt was this book was slightly more focused on the character development between Mona and "nicky" 😂 ((forever what I'll refer to him as) and that's definitely not a bad thing. I'm excited to see if each book focuses more on each guy and Mona as they get to know each other more or if they just build onto it! But really guys give this book a try it is great!
What happens when you discover that everything you thought you knew was a lie? That beneath the sparkle and shine of the known world there was a darkness and beings fighting over your very soul? Mona has had a rough life, she saw something kill her mother when she was young. In fact she sees a lot of somethings all over England! The shrinks think she is crazy, her friends think she is eccentric and the foster families that she grew up with just wanted her gone. Now she discovers that everything she thought she saw is real... and she is part of that world. Enter the hunky roommates that will try to save her. The grumpy fairy Nick, the sexy witch Callum, the brooding dark elf Kaden and the cuddly were-tiger Mason... will they save her, can they save her from herself. This was an excellent starter book by new authors and I look forward to seeing where they go with it next!
This book is epic!
